The Central States Microscopy Society (CSMMS) was formed in 1968 as a subgroup of the Microscopy Society of America in order to
advance scientific research and discovery through the use of microscopy. In the mid 1990's, the Missouri Illinois and Kansas Microbeam
Annalysis Society (MIKMAS) merged with CSMMS to form one local affiliated society dedicated to the promotion of both microscopy and
microannalysis in the scientific research community.
Under both the Microscopy Society of America and the Microbeam Annalysis Society, we now provide a forum in the central states area
for the presentation and discussion of scientific problems in order to interpret them using microscopy and microannalysis techniques
for the promotion of the common welfare.
